Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1442: Peering into a Rank Seven Talisman Pt.3

To be honest, after Shang Xia failed in his second attempt, he wasn’t too optimistic about his third.

Shang Xia could tell that of the 3 sheets of talisman paper, the first contained the least amount of Star Devouring Silkworm’s silk. Even though it was the lowest quality among the 3, it was the talisman paper Ren Huan was most confident in.

When he succeeded in crafting the talisman earlier, Shang Xia was sure that it would be comparable to the Star Origin Lord Robe, if not a little weaker.

The second sheet contained a little more silk, which meant that the process of crafting it was a little more difficult. It was more likely for Ren Huan to fail, and Shang Xia could tell that it was more fragile than the first sheet.

Fortunately, it wasn’t as though he gained nothing after the second sheet was destroyed. After the Star Essence filled the Star Beast Nest, it seemed to bring out some sort of suppressive effect on the chaotic streams around.

In the future, Shang Xia would get Ren Huan to continue researching in that direction.

Because of that, Shang Xia knew that even though the third sheet of talisman paper was of even higher quality, it would also be the most fragile. Of course, he had to test it out regardless so as not to waste the special talisman paper.

When he borrowed the last bit of inspiration he had to experiment on the third sheet, he found everything flowing unnaturally smoothly.

Shang Xia soon completed the fusion of the third Variant Talisman, and he started to focus fully on integrating the fourth.

The difficulty instantly doubled and the consumption of his Six Direction Qi increased proportionally.

It was something he never felt when fusing the third talisman, and he also felt that the talisman paper had yet to reach his limit, but it would be many times more difficult to infuse the fourth talisman, and he would need a long time to do so.

He used 7 days to complete the fusion of the first 3 Variant Talismans, and just completing the runes of the fourth took him 5 more days!

More than 10 days had passed since he started to craft the talismans and it was something he had never done in his years of experience crafting talismans. Surprisingly, after completing the fourth Variant Talisman, the talisman wasn’t completed!

He didn’t dare to relax in the slightest. Taking a deep breath, Shang Xia continued to pour more Six Direction Qi into his brush. He didn’t hesitate to start the fusion of the fifth talisman!

His brush flowed without obstruction and runes started to take shape one after another. Shang Xia could feel the slight trembling that came from the tip of his brush with every stroke.

He understood that the limit of the talisman paper had most likely been reached, and no matter what, he had to succeed!

Shang Xia sank into a strange state of focus and forgot the flow of time as he continued. The brush had already become a part of him and with each stroke, the talisman paper slowly integrated itself into his senses.

Each strand of silk from the Star Devouring Silkworm could be seen by him in the strange state and with each stroke of his brush, the power of starlight would stain the talisman paper before fusing perfectly with each strand of silk.

The silk of the Star Devouring Silkworm was produced after they refined the power of starlight, and with every movement of his brush, he brought out the true essence it contained.

Throughout the process, tiny streams of energy would leak out from his secret courtyard, and even with the layers of protection formation, the skies outside were filled with the power of starlight.

With a final stroke of his brush, the fifth Variant Talisman had been fused into the talisman paper. It was a sign the talisman was complete and the power it contained had reached the peak.

The brilliant rays of starlight in the Star Beast Nest started to recede into his courtyard and filled the talisman paper that was barely 7 inches in length.

The instant he raised his brush, the strange state of enlightenment disappeared. His frustrations at its departure surpassed the lethargy he felt after crafting the talisman for 25 straight days.

However, joy quickly took over when he realized he had completed the talisman. At the very least, his comprehension in the dao of talismans increased. He was merely 2 Variant Talismans away from being able to craft a rank seven talisman!
