Senior Sister, Shut Up!

Chapter 24: Secret Even Parents Don’t Know

“Senior Sister.”

“Um?”

“It feels strange for you to look like you’ve seen through the world and become disillusioned.”

“You still have the cheek to say that about me?” Su Huaizhou rolled her eyes at him. “Aren’t you not planning to date either?”

“I just have more important things to do. Dating is a lower priority, but it doesn’t mean I’ll never do it.”

“Is that so?” Su Huaizhou looked at him with a curious smile. “Then, what are the more important things you’re talking about?”

“Uh…” Jiang Miao choked on his words. “It’s a personal secret, so I won’t say it for now.”

“Now even I can know?”

“Not even my parents know.”

“So mysterious?” Su Huaizhou sized him up and grinned mischievously. “Those who don’t know might think that you’re secretly saving the world or something.”

“You’re indeed someone who reads web novels. You have a rich imagination.”

When they arrived at the bubble tea shop downstairs, Jiang Miao treated Senior Sister to a cup, and the two of them went to the cafeteria for dinner.

When he sat down with his tray across from her, he looked at her long hair cascading down and her beautiful face and fell into a daze.

Why do I feel like I’m getting used to it? I need to stay alert! Jiang Miao silently reminded himself, but he couldn’t think of a good solution.

But on second thought, Senior Sister herself said she wasn’t planning to fall in love, so what’s there to worry about?

If we’re just friends, as long as my identity as Peach Jam isn’t exposed, I have to say that Senior Sister is indeed an excellent friend.

Not only does she share common interests with me, but she’s also a fan of my novel. She can provide insights into how female readers perceive my work.

Some of her opinions had been quite novel to Jiang Miao.

“The association recruitment event is tomorrow night,” Su Huaizhou said while eating stir-fried beef. “Your Senior Sister Qi is waiting for you two to sign up. Don’t disappoint her.”

“Yes, I remember.” Jiang Miao nodded.

He definitely had to sign up. After all, he had already committed to it.

However, wouldn’t it be fine if he signed up and underperformed during the interview to get rejected?

At that time, he would just stammer and not be able to say anything. He couldn’t possibly sign up successfully like that, right?

If that happened, he would be the first to step forward and report any shady dealings!

“But are you really not going to join the Youth Association?” Su Huaizhou asked with a smile. “With me protecting you inside, you definitely won’t be treated poorly.”

“Forget it… I heard the Youth Association is quite busy.” Jiang Miao declined politely again. “I prefer to have free time to do my own things. The debate team is enough.”

Whether or not he’d be treated poorly was uncertain, but he knew that joining the Youth Association would significantly increase the chances of his identity being exposed.

With his urge of wanting to check the author’s dashboard every half an hour, it would be really easy for Senior Sister to discover him if he did it too many times.

Therefore, it was better to avoid finding trouble for himself.

“Oh, right, have you read the new chapters that Peach Jam released yesterday?” Su Huaizhou’s eyes were sparkling with excitement. “She wrote out that female supporting character. It seems she doesn’t intend to write about her in the story anymore.”

“Oh, I saw that too,” Jiang Miao said calmly. “The author probably has her own considerations after receiving reader feedback. Removing a supporting character won’t affect the main storyline.”

“I feel quite satisfied.” Su Huaizhou smiled contentedly. “It was really uncomfortable to read about that female character before. I couldn’t even enjoy the dog food anymore. It’s great now.”

“You seem to be following the novel closely?” Jiang Miao probed indirectly.

“That’s right. I check it every day and read it as soon as there’s a release.” Su Huaizhou took out her phone. “Look, it’s pinned with update notifications and automatic subscription set up. I’ll receive a notification as soon as there’s a new chapter.”

That’s quite dedicated. Jiang Miao glanced at Senior Sister’s reading list. Most of them were familiar titles.

But the only pinned novel was ‘My Girlfriend Is a Content Creator’.

What should I do? I’m feeling a little touched.

A fan like this has to be cherished.

“Senior Sister, didn’t you say you aren’t interested in dating? Why do you enjoy reading these slice-of-life romance novels?”

“That’s not contradictory, right?” Su Huaizhou tilted her head. “It’s precisely because I don’t believe in love in reality that I read fiction.

“It’s like the Butterfly Lovers or Romeo and Juliet. They’re fictional love stories, so they’re beautiful.

“Looking for love in real life is not as good as reading romance novels.”

That actually makes quite a bit of sense…

However, Jiang Miao wrote this novel because of his own intermittent desire to fall in love, so he simply started writing a romance novel, working on a web novel while satisfying his own fantasies at the same time.

And now, Senior Sister is reading this novel to satisfy her fantasies of love? Wow.

So, does that mean I’m closely connected to Senior Sister?

Bah!

Jiang Miao wanted to slap himself to snap out of it.

After a ‘difficult’ dinner, Jiang Miao and Su Huaizhou returned to the multipurpose building together.

In the evening, Jiang Miao had little work to do in the Political Work Group. It was mainly the students responsible for editing posters and managing the official social media accounts who were busy.

However, it was quite comfortable to write while enjoying the free air conditioner in the office, so he simply continued to stay here and finished the remaining 1,000 words for the day.

When it was almost nine o’clock and the military training was about to end, Jiang Miao packed up and left the multipurpose building.

He wanted to avoid being caught Senior Sister late at night again.

Last night, she had even suspected that he was secretly doing something bad on the computer.

He had clearly been doing what Senior Sister liked the most—writing.

With this thought in mind, Jiang Miao walked on the asphalt path under the night sky and arrived at the exit of the sports field. From afar, he heard the whistle of the instructors announcing the end of the military training for the day.

A few seconds later, he saw a black shadow darting out and speeding away on an electric scooter.

If Jiang Miao wasn’t mistaken, the black shadow should be his roommate who went missing every day.

Then he saw another figure running out of the sports field while panting heavily and looking around anxiously.

Seeing Jiang Miao, the young figure hesitated for a moment, seemingly gathering courage, before walking over and asking quietly, “Um… Excuse me, may I ask if a tall boy ran out just now?”

“Yes, he just left on an electric scooter.” Jiang Miao looked at the girl’s face under the light of the roadside. “We’ve met before, right? You’re Chen Haoshang’s girlfriend, right?”

“Ahh!” The girl, who had been looking down, looked up at Jiang Miao and immediately remembered him as Chen Haoshang’s roommate. Her face flushed bright red. “No, no! We’re not dating! Please don’t misunderstand!”

With such a strong reaction, even if they weren’t dating, she most likely had feelings for him.

“Also, also… Haoshang is actually a really nice person. He just doesn’t talk to people usually. If he has offended you in any way, I apologize on his behalf! If there are any problems with him, please let me know. Sorry to trouble you!”

After blurting out everything in one breath, the girl bowed deeply, surprising Jiang Miao so much that he took half a step back.

“It’s okay. You don’t have to…”

Before he could finish speaking, the girl, already blushing furiously, squeaked and ran away, leaving him standing there with his mouth slightly open.

Wait… at least give me a contact method. Otherwise, if something happens to Chen Haoshang, how am I supposed to inform you?

Sighing, Jiang Miao decided not to dwell on it anymore. He took out his phone to record the new material first.
