While constricted, Pearl could still see and hear everything that happened before him.
"This is him, leader. I guarantee it. I don't know why he is weaker, but this is the bastard. I remember his aura very clearly," the voice next to the man said again.
'A soul?' Pearl thought. It was a soul that was talking to the man. He couldn't see the soul, but it had to be hidden around the man.
He wondered if it was someone he killed, or someone who was killed by the man for not completing their commands.
The Divine Realm cultivator turned to Pearl. "If this is him, then that is all that matters," he said and strode forward.
Pearl remained where he was, his eyes staring at the man with great defiance.
The man stared back, not a hint of emotion on his face.
"I wish I could make you feel the pain I have dreamt you to feel all these days, but due to the urgency of my situation, I shall deliver unto you the same mercy you did my son."
Then with a thought, the man tightened his aura around Pearl and crushed him.
Pearl… popped. The suddenness of the event took the man aback. The youth before him just popped, with no blood or gore. He could feel the feedback of the crush and the destruction; there had been something there. It hadn't been an illusion.
And yet, there was nothing there.
"Where is he? Where did he—"
The man turned around instantly, a black ax arriving in his hand. The moment it was there, he swung it.
Golden fire erupted all around the man at the same time, burning right through the attack he made and then burning him as well.
The man screamed, unable to do anything against the fire. Not even able to use any treasures to defend himself. He could only survive as the flames burned him.
Flareborn gently landed before the man, the cries not fazing him at all.
"To think it would be so easy to capture you. Baited by an Immortal into revealing yourself."
Several other individuals arrived at the same time, raising their hands in unison as they used an array technique. Large blue barriers formed around the burning man, each hexagonal in pattern, with nearly a hundred faces to them.
When the array was complete, the flames burning the Divinity died away, revealing a disheveled man that struggled to breathe properly. He looked up, anger burning deep in his eyes, but also pain.
"Take him," Flareborn said, and the people that came with him flew away, taking the Divinity along with them.
Flareborn made his way out of the courtyard but was forced to stop close by. In another courtyard, owned by a different person, were Alex and Pearl who waited for the man to come.
Both Alex and Pearl watched Flareborn slowly come down.
"Senior, is it done?" Alex asked worriedly.
"It is done. The man was captured, and he's being taken away," Flareborn said. He looked toward Pearl. "Still, that is quite the impressive technique you've got there. How can you create such a realistic body of yourself and send it around while your main body remains here?"
"It's a beast trait of mine," Pearl said, explaining no further. Any more explanation about White Tiger's Steps and the man might realize what beast he was.
"It is an amazing trait. It's no different from clones," the man said. "Although your strength does divide equally among the clones, doesn't it? That's not really useful in battle. Cool trick though."
Alex barely held in his smile. If only the man knew.
"About the secret realm, senior. When do you think I should enter?" Alex asked.
Flareborn thought for a moment and said, "I cannot guarantee the man is all there is to his gang. I will do everything I can to find more about him. If it is safe, I will tell you, and then you can go."
Alex accepted that. "So a week or two?" he asked.
"Maybe even less," he said. "I will tell you, don't worry. For now, go rest."
"Thank you, senior."
Now that it was done, Alex and Pearl made their way to the other side of the city where Momo and Yuren were under constant guard by several Immortals at each moment. They never got too close so as not to let Yuren know they were there, but to any Immortal, it was an obvious matter.
Whisker was the first to ask about the situation.
"Did you succeed?" he asked.
"A big person was captured. If he is all there is or not, we will find out in a few days," Alex said.
"Oh, that's good," Whisker said. "So we can leave here soon."
"Yes," Alex answered.
They spent the next few days training and cultivating. They just needed to pass their time until they heard from the senior.
Alex taught Momo when he could and even let Whisker help Yuren here and there where he was confused.
On the fifth day, he was in the middle of teaching Momo when he suddenly sensed the aura around the place change at once.
Pearl looked up at once, feeling the change as well. The change was the most obvious to Whisker of all, thanks to his senses.
"What's… happening?" Whisker asked, confused.
"Some sort of incident?" Alex said and quickly walked out to see what was going on. He looked to the sky, his eyes seeing a brilliant spread of colors, but none out of the ordinary. He looked to the west, and only then did he see something more.
A burst of white light filled his vision. Even his senses could tell something was happening in that place. It was something big enough to alert the entire Wineweed City and perhaps further away.
Pearl and Whisker walked out and looked toward it as well.
Pearl's eyes slowly narrowed. "Brother…" he called out in a confused tone. "Is that not where the inheritance site is?"
