Chapter 40: The Unlucky Golden Retriever

“Woof woof~( My name is Da Jin, and I’m a purebred Golden Retriever. Today, while my owner was away, I broke free from my leash and went for a stroll around the residential complex. )”

“Woof woof~( But I never expected that this stroll would lead me to encounter the most terrifying existence of my life. )”

Da Jin muttered, his face still seemingly aching. The memory under the sun surfaced in his mind.

That day, the sun was bright and warm. He trotted along happily with his short steps, letting out mighty barks. He was following a scent on the ground, planning to find some female dogs to play with.

After all, he was tall, handsome, and had a large build – a handsome dog for miles around. What female dog could possibly resist him?

But as he was lost in his fantasy, he didn’t encounter a single female dog.

Instead, a big slap landed on his face. In a daze, he felt like he saw his great-grandmother.

Although he had never seen her in person, at this moment, he felt like he was the closest he had ever been to her.

Before he could react, an immense force, as if trying to strangle him, flipped him over.

Only then did he realize what had attacked him.

It was a very strong tabby cat, but its strength was truly terrifying. He opened his mouth wide, trying to bite it, but the cat kicked him, sending a sharp pain through his jaw.

But this wasn’t the end, only the beginning. A storm of kicks rained down on him, leaving him unable to even open his mouth.

The next second, a surge of pain shot through his head, knocking him unconscious.

“Meow meow~( So… so amazing, Daddy is so awesome! )”

“Meow meow~( Yeah, yeah! We’ve heard Mom say how strong Daddy is, but we didn’t expect him to take down such a big dog so easily. )”

“Meow meow~( You’re right, Daddy is truly the best! )”

The kittens, hiding under the car and witnessing this scene, widened their eyes in astonishment.

Was this the big dog their mother had warned them to stay away from? But it was easily knocked down by their father and was now completely subdued.

Daddy was truly amazing! They never thought their cat father could do something like this.

“Meow meow~( What are you three little ones staring at? Let’s go. That clumsy guy probably won’t be waking up anytime soon. )” Li Li, walking over, said to the three stunned kittens. What were these three unlucky kids staring at? He had finished the fight, why were they still spacing out? ȐἈɴÒ฿Ęṥ

“Meow meow~( Daddy, isn’t this big dog dead? )” Little White Cat asked, confused.

“Meow meow~( Yeah, Daddy. We saw you beat him until he bled. )”

Little Black Cat added.

“Meow meow~( Of course not! That clumsy dog just fainted from the pain after I kicked his nose. I’m not some bloodthirsty cat. Why would I k*ll him for no reason? Besides, keeping him alive is much more useful than killing him. )” Li Li explained as they walked, “Meow meow~( This is human territory. If I killed him, humans would think we’re a bigger threat than him, and then we would be the ones in danger, understand? )”

“Meow meow~( So that’s how it is! We understand, Daddy. )”

The kittens nodded their heads, saying they understood. Although they didn’t fully grasp it, they heard from their father that killing the dog wasn’t a good thing.

“Meow meow~( Mm. Also, leaving this dog alive has another benefit. After being beaten by me, he’ll tell other dogs not to mess with me. That way, other dogs won’t bother me. )” Li Li continued. These dogs had their own intelligence network and social circles.

They would communicate with other dogs about where to find food and which creatures to avoid.

As long as he beat one, basically all other dogs would know, saving him a lot of trouble.

“Meow meow~( So that’s what it means! Daddy is truly amazing! )”

“Meow meow~( Yeah, we want to become as strong as Daddy in the future! )” The kittens’ eyes shone brightly as they spoke. At this moment, they finally had a goal to pursue in their cat lives.

“Meow meow~( It’s good to have a goal, but don’t be too ambitious. What we little ones need to do now is find a litter shovel officer. )” Li Li said as he walked towards the target building, “Meow meow~( Later, when we go to the human’s house, you three need to put on a good show, understand? Whether you can stay or not depends on your own abilities. )”

“Meow meow~( Yes, we understand, Daddy. )” The kittens nodded their heads in response.

“Meow meow~( Mm, follow me. Don’t fall behind. )” Li Li said, taking small steps forward.

Dealing with this clumsy dog not only lifted his mood considerably but also gave him a general understanding of his own strength.

After his mutation, taking care of a large dog like a Golden Retriever wasn’t a problem. If he launched a surprise attack, the dog wouldn’t even have a chance to fight back.

At this rate, the future was bright! However, he had to settle these three little troublemakers first before he could continue begging for food.

“Ah! Da Jin! What happened to you? What’s wrong?” Just as Li Li took the kittens into the elevator, a woman holding a leash let out a painful wail as she saw Da Jin, the Golden Retriever, lying on the ground with blood on his nose and mouth, “Who did this? Who could be so heartless? Who killed my precious baby?”

“Da Jin! Da Jin!”

“Woof woof~( Who… who died? )” At this moment, Da Jin, the Golden Retriever, suddenly woke up, muttering in confusion.

“Ah? Da Jin, you… you’re alright?” The woman’s voice faltered in disbelief. Da Jin wasn’t dead? She thought someone had poisoned him.

“Woof woof~( Am I dead? I don’t think so… right? )” Da Jin, his nose and face aching, said uncertainly.

He only remembered being beaten up by a cat. As for being dead, he didn’t think so, right?

But as he recalled that fat cat, Da Jin trembled in fear and quickly burrowed into the woman’s arms, “Woof woof~( Whimper, Master. The outside world is so scary, and the cats outside are even scarier. I almost got beaten to death. )”

“Woof woof~( Master, I’ll never leave you again. )”

“Da Jin, good boy. Mommy knows you were wronged. It’s Mommy’s fault. Mommy will definitely keep a close eye on you from now on. ” Hearing Da Jin’s whimpers, the woman rubbed his head comfortingly.

Afterwards, she took Da Jin, with his bloodied nose and mouth, to the vet.

Meanwhile, on the other side, the elevator doors opened. Li Li, leading the three kittens, arrived in front of a door and pressed the doorbell with his paw.
