The atmosphere changed in an instant with the appearance of the Blood Heaven Blade Demon.
Seo Daeryong, Jangho, and Lyu Bin stood up and respectfully clasped their fists.
“We greet the Demon Supreme.”
I poured a drink for Gu Cheonpa.
“How did you know to come?”
“I was just passing by and stopped in.”
Could that really be the case? He must have been watching my movements and came here upon hearing that I was drinking with the Great Drunken Demon.
He came for my sake, worried that I might be swayed by Song Sa-hyuk. Recently, he had been diligently training in martial arts, likely for the same reason.
After drinking the wine I offered him, old man Blade spoke to Seo Daeryong, Jangho, and Lyu Bin.
“Please step outside for a moment.”Who would refuse such an order? The three respectfully bowed and left.
Now, only the Blood Heaven Blade Demon, the Great Drunken Demon, and I remained in the room.
Song Sa-hyuk was the first to speak.
“It’s been a while, senior.”
He greeted him with a friendly smile, but the Blade Demon looked at him with disapproval.
“Let’s cut to the chase. Step back.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, stay away from the young master.”
“I was only having a drink with him.”
“Don’t do that.”
“You’re telling me not to drink with him?”
“Drink with someone else.”
The Great Drunken Demon laughed and took another sip of his drink. Gu Cheonpa continued to glare at him coldly. Even among the Demon Supremes, he was known to have no close friends, and he certainly wouldn’t think well of the sly Great Drunken Demon.
“Calm down and have a drink,” Song Sa-hyuk said as he refilled the Blade Demon’s glass. He showed no sign of backing down, even in front of him.
“I respect you, senior, but don’t you think this is a bit much?”
“I thought someone who is always drunk wouldn’t know anything about the Way.”
“I have my own way of the drink. Senior, please don’t hate me too much.”
He smiled warmly, but the Blood Heaven Blade Demon had come with a firm resolve today.
“Stay away from the young master. Then I won’t interfere in your life.”
At that, the Great Drunken Demon got up, took his glass, and sat in the farthest seat from me.
“Is this distance enough?”
Gu Cheonpa’s expression hardened.
“Do you think I’m joking right now?”
“No, you were so serious that I made a little joke. I’m sorry.”
The Great Drunken Demon then looked at me. His eyes seemed to say, “Don’t you have anything to say at this point?” but I remained silent.
Song Sa-hyuk’s gaze turned back to the Blade Demon.
“Senior, you weren’t like this before. Were you ever so invested in someone?”
The Blood Heaven Blade Demon snorted with a look of disdain.
“Aren’t you the one who never cares about others?”
“Me?”
“Weren’t you always someone who only cared about your own drunken state?”
“That’s right. I am that selfish.”
The Great Drunken Demon took a drink and set his glass down. The sound of it hitting the table was louder than before.
The air around us had turned cold. The natural flow of their auras reflected the mood of the two men.
“Stop drinking and answer with that mouth of yours. Promise you won’t meet the young master again.”
But the Great Drunken Demon drank again. Seeing his usually laughing and chatting face turn serious felt unfamiliar.
“No.”
With his refusal, demonic energy emanated from Gu Cheonpa. Simultaneously, demonic energy also burst from Song Sa-hyuk. As their energies mingled, a sensation I had never experienced before enveloped the surroundings. Ꞧἁ₦ỖʙΕṡ
“Do you trust in the unspoken rule that Demonic Supremes should never fight each other?”
“Are you saying you’ll break that rule?”
“Is there a reason not to?”
“Fine. I’m always up for breaking things. Did you think I’d be afraid of breaking that rule?”
“I wonder if you’ll be just as calm when your wine bottle breaks.”
Their demonic energy grew even denser. Though it was intensifying rapidly, I didn’t stop them. I just watched quietly, protecting myself with the Heavenly Demon Body Protection Technique.
“Alright. Then at least tell me the reason. Why are you stopping me?”
“Because you’ll get in the young master’s way.”
“And not because you’re in my way, senior?”
The corners of the Blood Heaven Blade Demon’s mouth curled up coldly. His aura was no less imposing than that of the relatively younger Great Drunken Demon, but the issue was that the latter knew his weaknesses well.
“A few days ago, I drank with the One-Slash Sword Supreme.”
At the mention of the One-Slash Sword Supreme, irritation flared on Gu Cheonpa’s face.
“She’s doing well. Still beautiful, still dignified. We talked about the recent Palmar Meeting and various other things. Oh, and she didn’t mention you at all.”
Fire blazed in the Blade Demon’s eyes. It was a precarious situation, as if he might wield the Heaven-Extinguishing Saber at any moment.
The Great Drunken Demon’s secret weapon was the gourd-shaped wine bottle hanging from his waist. Known as Blood Tears, it was said to be unbreakable, even by a treasured sword. I wasn’t sure why it was named that, but it was certain that when the stopper was opened, someone would shed bloody tears.
Before my regression, I had never seen the Heaven-Extinguishing Saber and Blood Tears in action. What would happen if these two clashed?
In this tense moment, Song Sa-hyuk continued to provoke Gu Cheonpa.
“Did you tell me to back off? Isn’t it you who should step back? As long as you’re with the young master, So Yeonrang won’t help him. But if it’s me, the Sword Supreme would gladly assist him. What do you think? Do you think you’re better than the two of us combined?”
Old man Blade couldn’t refute this because the One-Slash Sword Supreme was his weakness.
Moreover, among the Demon Supremes, who were all of similar strength, it was not easy to claim that he could match the roles of both of them.
At that moment, I was the one who answered.
“He is better.”
Both the Great Drunken Demon and the Blood Heaven Blade Demon looked at me.
“Elder Cheonpa is better than the two of you combined.”
My eyes met the Blood Heaven Blade Demon’s gaze. In his small, sharp eyes, I saw a flash of gratitude and emotion.
The Great Drunken Demon smiled and drank the wine in front of him.
“Can you say the same if the Sword Supreme were here?”
“I can.”
“Can you say the same if the Evil Smiling Demon were here?”
Song Sa-hyuk knew about my deep emotional bond with Soma. He was quick with information and always aware of the situation.
“I can.”
“You’re boasting because they aren’t here.”
The Great Drunken Demon sneered and walked to the window. He shouted to Lyu Bin, who was waiting across the street.
“Go and bring the One-Slash Sword Supreme and the Evil Smiling Demon.”
“Yes.”
Lyu Bin quickly disappeared.
The Great Drunken Demon returned to his seat.
“Do I really have to go this far? I even proposed that we become sworn brothers, yet you go too far.”
“While I appreciate your good intentions, I don’t become sworn brothers with someone I’ve only had drinks with twice. If you want to, get in line. It’s not your turn yet.”
Maybe I would become much closer to the Great Drunken Demon in the future. He might even be a great help in our grand undertaking.
But for now, the Blood Heaven Blade Demon came first. 1
I had earnestly knocked on the door to his heart, and he had willingly opened it for me.
No matter how dazzling Song Sa-hyuk tried to be or how sweetly he spoke to me, it couldn’t compare to the deep, sincere gratitude I felt for Gu Cheonpa, who had painstakingly opened the heavy, rusted door that had been closed for so long.
At that moment, the Blood Heaven Blade Demon sent me a telepathic message.
—When the Sword Supreme arrives, say that she is more important.
—I refuse.
—Even if you say that, I’ll still take your side.
The stubborn old man who used to poke my side and talk about misfortune had come this far. A man who was all pride was willing to put it aside for me.
—I know you will.
—Then why refuse?
—I don’t want you to be disrespected in front of others.
—Understood. I know your heart now, so follow my words. The greater good is more important than personal feelings. You know that, right?
How could I prioritize someone else who thought so much for me?
—That’s why I can’t.
—Why?
—The Sword Supreme would see through my lie. You know that, don’t you? She’s perceptive. For the greater good, it’s better to be honest.
Old man Blade couldn’t argue with that.
Mentioning the Sword Supreme had made this situation very uncomfortable for him.
He must have wanted to leave several times, but he stayed for my sake. He must have thought that he had to resolve this issue somehow.
The first to arrive was So Yeonrang.
She must have already asked Lyu Bin who was here, for she showed no emotion upon seeing the Blood Heaven Blade Demon.
“Welcome, senior.”
“Young master, why are you drinking with such unhelpful people?”
The Great Drunken Demon laughed at her joke.
“Friend, how can you say something so hurtful?”
Using the term “friend,” Song Sa-hyuk flaunted his close relationship with her. While she might describe him as simple-minded, the Great Drunken Demon called her a friend.
It was a moment that made me realize once again that the Demon Supremes didn’t tell me everything when explaining about each other.
“Stop drinking,” she said.
“Training in swordsmanship is the same as my drinking.”
“Then drink alone, just as you train alone.”
“It’s too much fun drinking with the young master.”
“I agree with that. But why did you call me, who can’t drink and isn’t fun?”
Then the Great Drunken Demon looked at Gu Cheonpa and spoke.
“Senior Blade Demon is trying to discipline his junior. And don’t you have Blade Demon senior tightly wrapped around your finger?”
Ordinarily, he might have pushed me to choose in front of the Sword Supreme, but the Great Drunken Demon didn’t do that.
He was smart and knew me well. He understood that pushing me would only hurt my feelings and wouldn’t benefit him.
Moreover, he knew that this alone would prompt the Blood Heaven Blade Demon to take the lead. Especially when it involved the Sword Supreme, he tended to react more rigidly.
“I told the Great Drunken Demon to stay away from the young master,” the Blood Heaven Blade Demon said.
The Sword Supreme responded coldly.
“Under what authority?”
“I have no authority. Just my instinct that he won’t be helpful to the young master.”
“I’ve already confirmed that your instincts are terrible.”
“You don’t know anything about me.”
“I don’t want to.”
Those days, they were somewhat cordial, but perhaps because of the Great Drunken Demon’s presence, they were snapping at each other again like old times.
Song Sa-hyuk struck at the Blood Heaven Blade Demon’s weak point again.
“Fine. Let’s assume the young master chooses you, and both the Sword Supreme and I back off. Are you close with the Evil Smiling Demon?”
The Blade Demon couldn’t respond. He wasn’t close to anyone.
I didn’t step in. I knew that intervening awkwardly would only fuel old man Blade’s anger.
Song Sa-hyuk was striking at the Blood Heaven Blade Demon’s weakness accurately. He couldn’t be blamed entirely; it was Gu Cheonpa who had intruded today.
With eyes full of intoxication, the Great Drunken Demon said to me.
“Now you must hate me. I’ve cornered the senior you like so much. Understand that I only showed you reality.”
“I won’t hate you.”
“Really? Why?”
“Because I don’t intend to send away either you or the Sword Supreme. I’ll make all of you my people.” 2
For a moment, the Blood Heaven Blade Demon glared at me. But his conflicted mind couldn’t stop me. He was already burdened with the need to handle three people’s worth of tasks.
“Even if you look at me like that, I can’t help it. I’m taking all of you with me.”
Gu Cheonpa shook his head while sighing tiredly.
“You have this stubborn illusion that if people try, everyone can become friends and harmonize. You might be like that. You certainly have a magnanimity beyond your years. But you’ll eventually realize that people are not of one mind.”
The Blood Heaven Blade Demon glanced at the Great Drunken Demon with irritation and the Sword Supreme with sadness before turning his head to the window. Floating in midair, Soma, wearing his white mask, had his arms crossed as he watched what was happening inside. 3
“Because of you, they might pretend to be harmonious on the surface, but behind the scenes, they’ll be fighting, hating, and causing chaos. In the midst of this turmoil, someone will get hurt, nurture hatred, and ultimately betray you. They’ll use those wounds as their excuse.”
The other Demon Supremes looked at me with eyes that seemed to agree with his words.
“That might be true,” I acknowledged.
“But why?”
“If you’re asking why we should go together, I’ll give you an answer.”
I looked at the four Demon Supremes and released my inner energy. I had never truly shown them the depth of my energy until now.
But this time, I clearly demonstrated what I really was. I overpowered the energy they emitted and dominated the surroundings with mine.
It wasn’t about displaying strength. I infused my energy with the greatest dignity I could muster.
I spoke to them quietly but firmly.
“Because from now on, your Heavenly Demon is me.”
Everyone flinched at my words. They couldn’t have imagined I would say something like this.
“It’s the decision of the future Heavenly Demon who will lead you. Accept whoever I bring. Fight, hate, and betray as you wish, as long as you don’t kill each other. However, there is one condition!”
I looked at the four Demon Supremes and declared,
“Do it within my boundaries.”
For a moment, silence filled the room.
They were all watching me. The drunken eyes, the gentle eyes, the small and sharp eyes, and the eyes behind the mask.
I hoped they would follow my will. I expected someone to step forward with a positive remark first.
Then, the Demon Supremes spoke simultaneously.
“I don’t want to.”
“Don’t want to.”
“I refuse.”
“No way.”
At this moment, they were of one mind. 4
I couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing. Ah, my adorable yet infuriating Demon Supremes!
I leaned out and called down to Jo Chunbae on the first floor.
“Bring us a new table of drinks here!”
1 : +5 friendship
2 : You madman !!!! ^^
3 : He’s too shy to enter XDXDXD
4 : They just said they would never agree with each others XDXDXD
